“The eyes of Eagle” by Ron.T.Burney
This is going to be my final English book blog, so I wanted to do this book. I read this book like a long times ago, but I can tell you that this book changed my mind and life. It was so impressed to me enough to makes me think about other people, minor people’s side. Literally this book is the one of the greatest thing I’ve ever read. That’s why I chose this book.
This book is a story about 2 aborigine kids who just lost their home, parents, family and everything that they had before in their life by white people’s invasion in Australia. This story actually reminded me a book name “Copper sun” because it shows you how horrible colored kid’s life was. Well, actually Copper sun reminded me this book. Gudab and Yudang. These 2 kids could luckily run away from white people so they didn’t get captured. They ran and ran over and over. Their tribute thinks that eagle god makes people can love each other, respect each other. But it seems like there’s no eagles in where them white people came from to those kids. They had to do everything to survive and keep running away from that white skin slaughters. They were only about 11 years old. They had to everything that human need to be alive. I think I would do everything to survive like them, but hey, just think about it, how terrible it would be? You have nothing but your own feasts and foots. As a little child, you have to hunt. You have to. Right after Gudab found a wounded baby kangaroo, although they were supposed to kill it to live, but they couldn’t. I can tell you because at least they thought all lives are worthy so you shouldn’t ruin it.
“I really don’t know how people can kill other people, we all have spirits and souls in our body. We could love each other like eagle god taught us to do. But why can’t they love us? Why do they seem like they have to take this land? Nobody owns a land, the land is Mother Nature’s”
When Yudang asked to Gudab like this, this quote made me feel so embarrassed. At that time I didn’t care about what kind of stuffs was actually going on until this world changed and ruled by white civilization. I’ve thought all that kind of people, American Indians, blacks in Africa, even Aborigines in South Pacific, they were all uncivilized and ignorant as their weird looking. I was young, and really unrealistically stupid like a lot of this world’s people still are. I didn’t realize myself, I couldn’t see things like that. I got a home in kind of famous civilized nation, I have my things, why would I even care about them uncivilized people even if they were killed by white people? White people are good looking, they made a lot of things, they changed and crated a lot of this modern history we got. I don’t think they are bad, there was must be some reasons, or if it really wasn’t, it was history, so nobody cares.
How, how ugly stupid this kind of people is? I know a lot of people still think like this, and I thought like this when I was younger than now, believe there’s nothing wrong with these attitude. I think I couldn’t even realize the difference from all the white people and USA. I’m not talking about some racist thing or streo typing, I can’t even be a racist because I’m also nasty looking Asian, shouldn’t be discriminated but discriminated. This book was so great enough makes me think about a lot of this world.
If you are strong, you can do whatever you want to do to other weaker people or society. If you have some good looking reason to show to world tells you about why we had to do this? That would be perfect. It actually doesn’t matter if it’s fake or truth. Because you are strong, you have really good reputation, you are the rule you are the justice itself, people will believe you and follow you anyways. Of course some “smart acting” people’s not going to be your side, but you can both ignore them, and make their mouth shut. Yes, this book about was history, not only white invaders did that, every place where human being exists, they’ve gotten same problems. That’s the biggest problem of this world, this earth. That has been existing a horribly huge problems still.
When some white people travelled the world, and conquered some little minor people in other lands, they thought they were people who decided by their only god Jesus Christ, their culture and their purpose was for justice and their religion. If they actually thought like that, and act like that, can you still blame them? I think you shouldn’t. But I also think you have to remember what was happening so our generation, this world we have now don’t need to experience that woe things again. But still, in this world, It seems like there’s a lot, so much people who never think about other people’s side. They don’t think, they don’t understand, they think what they’ve done and will do is all for justice and their positive beliefs. What should we learn about Gudab and Yudang’s life? Why this world is still lean on the great power that some people have?
I can say this book really changed my life.
That’s my final book blog.
